Floating Collections : new Opportunities and Challenges for You and Your Library Users
Kurzfassung in englisch
Library users want new material to choose from, ways to obtain those
bestsellers sooner, and speedy material transfers. Floating your
collections may be the answer.
Letting the books go to locations
where patrons demand them, and having them stay there. If your system is
overwhelmed by shipping material from branch to branch, if your users are
complaining about selection choices, and it takes forever to get material
transferred, floating your
system collections may
be for you.
Floating collections present new opportunities and challenges. Our
speaker chaired the Task Group that introduced floating collections at
Vancouver Public Library, his public library. Come hear him explain the
floating collection concept and describe the implementation process and its
impact on his library system and library users.
